Governor Abbott Proposed Bill to Oust Local Government Authority
Governor Abbott has proposed a bill that would broadly preempt the authority of local governments to regulate local issues. Governor Abbott has proposed this law as a reaction to local cities and counties enacting laws regulating businesses in a more strict manner than the state at large. This proposal has troubled many small government advocates as it centralizes government power in Austin and effectively disenfranchises local citizens from localized self-governance. If passed, this law could be effectively invoked to fight any number of local laws, including code enforcement provisions and land use codes.

Managing Attorney Honored
Ross Russell, the managing attorney at Law Offices of Ross Russell, P.C. was recently honored at the May 2015 graduation at Texas A&M School of Law. Ross Russell received an award for earning the highest score on the Texas bar exam of all Texas A&M Law School graduates. In recognition of this honor, he was given an award and a monetary gift. Also, the law school will display a plaque that recognizes Ross Russell as the highest bar score student among his class. This plaque will remain at the law school and serve as a reminder of the results-oriented approach of Ross Russell, and the law firm of Law Offices of Ross Russell, P.C.
